Fair Trade Original Foundation envisions a fair distribution of wealth in emerging economies. The Foundation’s core values are positive return on investment, sustainable relationships, independence and self-esteem for our partners.
Since a strategic reorientation that started in 2020, FTO Foundation has transformed into an active impact investor in value chains that create employment by connecting developing economies to the Dutch and European market. The sector focus for the investment portfolio is food & agri, fashion, personal care, and basic commodities. For all investments a positive impact on environmental sustainability, social inclusiveness and economic viability is a requirement. In its investment policy the Foundation aims to build a diverse portfolio of direct investments in social enterprises, and indirect investments through participating in impact investment funds.
